Racing Tips for Wednesday 30 May 2018

Wednesday’s UK and Irish racing is at Beverley, Cartmel, Nottingham, Warwick, Gowran Park and Ripon.

Our top six selections and nap for the day are detailed below.

Quick Links – Today’s Tips

Cartmel 2.40

The 2.40 at Cartmel is a handicap hurdle over an extended 2m6f, in which our selection is an each-way choice: LADY VIVONA (GB).

Nottingham 3.50

In the 3.50 at Nottingham, we really like the chances of DAIRA PRINCE (IRE) for the Roger Varian team. Likely to be vying for favouritism with the Haggas trained Queen’s horse, SENIORITY (GB), this selection clocked better winning at this track last time out, to suggest it should have the edge in this match bet.

Nottingham 4.20

In the 4.20 at Notts, we’ve rated the likely favourite proud of today’s field in selecting ICONIC BELLE (GB) to win this 1M2F50Y handicap. This one is bang in form with the level shown the last twice, to win and finish second, significantly better than anything today’s opponents have shown recently.

With Nicola Currie’s 5lb claim taking some weight off what should have been top weight, and conditions a positive, this filly has everything in her favour here.

Watch out for: the former Godolphin DEMOPHON making a handicap bow for new connections in a race without much apparent depth.

Cartmel 4.40

In the 4.40 at Cartmel, we have selected likely favourite THE COMPELLER (IRE) for the Lucinda Russell stable under Derek Fox. On the upgrade when winning at Perth last month, a performance which is better than anything seen of late from today’s rivals.

Warwick 7.15

A short priced favourite, but one which looks deservedly so, in the Warwick 7.15, where we cannot see past TOO MUCH TOO SOON (IRE) for those in form Skeltons. Has had a solid reappearance to add some more fitness for then new connections, and this race looks, if anything, an easier opportunity.

Gowran Park 8.30 NAP

Our nap of the day is towards the end of racing, in the 8.30 at Gowran Park, where the selection is ARBOURFIELD (IRE) at a ikely double figure price. Had been putting in regular appearances in the frame on the All Weather at Dundalk before returning to turf on really heavy ground at the Curragh. Needs to be forgiven that run down the field today, but on much better ground, looks a nice each-way prospect who has the ability to win a race of this nature.

According to our ratings, last time out was this one’s worst ever performance, by a long way, and an only average run here would see a return for each-way backers, and anything close to this gelding’s best would mean a win today.
