Racing Tips – Tuesday 22 May 2018

There’s turf flat racing at Nottingham, Ayr, Chepstow and Sligo, and jumps cards this evening at Hexham and Huntingdon. Our tips for today are listed below.

We have a NAP in the 7,50 at Sligo, too. See below!

Today’s Tips – Quick Links

Nottingham 4.00

We expect good things from DOUBLE REFLECTION (GB) in the 16.00 race at Nottingham, a 1m2f 50y race. Quality apprentice Clifford Lee takes 3 lbs off the weight for in-form trainer Karl Burke. There’s been some early support for this one in the betting too, and, having been second the last twice, this filly is bang in form. A price of 7/2 seems like value still.

Sligo 6.20

We take a view on the longer priced PHOENIX LIGHTNING (IRE) in the extended 6 furlong 6.20 at Sligo. If you can get enhanced place terms (see Bet365 for these) then the price of 33/1 makes this one an excellent each-way opportunity which is we feel rated well for stealing a win in this 6 horse race.  Non runners make this now a 4 runner event – place terms may not be available.

Huntingdon 7.10

We like MELLOW BEN (IRE) for this 2m3f 137y hurdle event. Harry Reed will take 5 lbs off the weight, for this Chris Gordon trained gelding today, putting him comfortably at the head of our ratings under today’s conditions. An early price of around 3/1 seems a little generous.

Sligo 7.20

We like the chances of BLUE PETAL (IRE) in this race, and its a nice each-way prospect at an early price of 25/1.

Huntingdon 7.40

The 19.40 race is a chase handicap over 2m 3f and 189 yards, and we think that CHARLIE PAPA LIMA (IRE) has the edge in this one. Odds on just the good side of evens (6/5) suggest the market agrees, though, so not one to go wild about, with some unexposed dangers in this race which could show some improvement.

Sligo 7.50 NAP

Saving the best for last, we are putting NAP next to an each-way bet on ILIKEHIM (IRE) in the 7.50 at Sligo. With enhanced place terms, you can get on at 13/2 each-way for four places with bet365, which we recommend as a strong chance. A win would be a bonus, but there’s profit for a place. We must trust that connections bring this one here fit, though jockey booking suggests that they are not here to make up the numbers today.
