Both our top tip for Saturday and our next best are running at Newbury, in consecutive races.
Nap of the day for Saturday is JABULANI (FR) which runs in the 1.50 Handicap Hurdle over an extended two and a half miles.
This one is trained by Nigel Twiston-Davies and ridden by Jamie Bargary today, after an impressive performance to win over hurdles at the third time of asking at Lingfield last time out. Comparatively, that performance would have beaten anything the rest of this field has put down against the clock, and allowing for some improvement, under today’s conditions, a price of 7/1 makes for a great each-way opportunity today.
Okay, so this race has more depth, and most of this field are entitled to improve for both fitness and experience, but we deal in objective measures, and on paper, a repeat performance today of the best runs every horse in this race has put down would see Jabulani winning today.
You don’t have to wait long for Saturday’s Next Best, which is POPPY KAY (GB) in the 2.25, also at Newbury.
This Philip Hobbs trained mare will be ridden today by Champion Jockey, Richard Johnson, at a price of around 8/1. We really liked the performance shown at Haydock in April, and, with a nice win on return in a conditionals event on 9th November, should be fired up for this race.
Faces a high class field today, but has the talent to win this, based on our ratings.
Our final two naps are LA BELLA VIDA (IRE) in the 1.25 at Fairyhouse, which is expected to go off at around 16/1 for trainer Miss E Doyle and jockey A W Short; and MAGIC OF LIGHT (IRE) which is expected to go off 7/4 favourite under Robbie Power for Mrs J Harrington in the race before at the same course, the 12.50.
