Today’s Racing Tips & Naps – Friday 1 June 2018

The UK and Irish racing today comes from Bath, Catterick, Doncaster, Epsom, Goodwood, Market Rasen and Tramore.

Its Oaks day in Epsom. Our tips and a nap for the big race can be found below.

Quick Links – Today’s Tips

Market Rasen 1.40

In the opener at Market Rasen, an uninspired choice with the likely short priced favourite SETTIE HILL (IRE), which looks a cut above today’s opposition.

  • Trainer: Nicky Henderson
  • Jockey: Nico de Boinville
  • Early Price: 4/11
  • Recommendation: Win

Market Rasen 3.25

IMPULSIVE AMERICAN (GB) has not been seen on course since 2016, so fitness will be a question mark, but if returning fired up, has the talent to lift a race of this nature.

At a price of 16/1, look for bookmakers offering extra places, as this race doesn’t have a great deal of depth to it, and this each-way play could prove profitable.

  • Trainer: David Pipe
  • Jockey: Mr Lorcan Williams
  • Early Price: 16/1
  • Recommendation: Each-Way

Market Rasen 4.00

A seven pound claim makes TRADITIONAL DANCER (IRE) for Iain Jardine’s team stand out following a last time out victory at Perth. While this one is a quirky customer, the form of that recent win is far superior to anything these opponents have shown of late.

  • Trainer: Iain Jardine
  • Jockey: Mr B Lynn
  • Early Price: 9/2
  • Recommendation: Win

Epsom 4.30 NAP

The big race, The Oaks, and we select Aiden O’Brien’s BYE BYE BABY (IRE) as today’s NAP to spring something of an each-way surprise.

We rate the form shown last time out at the Curragh very highly, when this filly won over 1m2f on heavy going. The ground today will be the soft side of good, and this one should stay this trip well too. The stopwatch says the form of last time should be enough to win today, but improvement may be expected from the unexposed PERFECT CLARITY (GB) who has done nothing wrong in two starts to date, as well as one or two others in what looks an open renewal.

  • Trainer: Aiden O’Brien
  • Jockey: Wayne Lordon
  • Early Price: 13/2
  • Recommendation: Each-Way

Tramore 6.15

A return to the bigger obstacles for OCTOBER REVOLUTION (IRE) following a down the field handicap hurdle in the middle of May could spell a nice each-way return at a long price.

  • Trainer: D J McGrath
  • Jockey: Mr D T McGrath
  • Early Price: 20/1
  • Recommendation: Each-Way

Doncaster 9.10

DR RICHARD KIMBLE (IRE)

  • Trainer: Mark Johnston
  • Jockey: Joe Fanning
  • Early Price: 2/1
  • Recommendation: Win
