Our Nap for Newmarket is Song Maker which runs in the 3.30 event for Charlie Appleby, under jockey William Buick. While this one is wearing the second colours for Godolphin (the all blue silks will be worn by the John Gosden trained Clearly) this one has put down a better marker against the clock, which, if repeated today, would see a decent return at an early price of around 9/2.
Blinkers seemed to do the trick over 2f further at Chester three starts ago, and has not been disgraced since, albeit below that form on the all weather. A return to turf and the mile trip the trainer clearly feels is optimum could be the key – with the blinkers retained again – against a field which is otherwise relatively exposed. Danger is the Haggas horse, Dynamic and the aforementioned Clearly, both of which have shown some promise from limited appearances.
