Its Qipco Champions Day at Ascot as we bid a fond farewell to the 2017 flat turf season in fine style, with some top class racing.
A card of six races is scheduled to take place at Ascot on Saturday 21st October. Our tips for every race, based on our speed ratings assessment, are detailed below.
Ascot Tips – Saturday 21 October 2017
Course | Time | Our Tip | Race Type | Dist |
ASCOT | 1:25 PM | Order Of St George (IRE) | Flat Turf | 1m7f209y |
ASCOT | 2:00 PM | Caravaggio (USA) | Flat Turf | 6f |
ASCOT | 2:40 PM | Journey | Flat Turf | 1m3f211y |
ASCOT | 3:15 PM | Sir John Lavery (IRE) | Flat Turf | 1m |
ASCOT | 3:50 PM | Highland Reel (IRE) | Flat Turf | 1m1f212y |
ASCOT | 4:30 PM | Brigliadoro (IRE) | Flat Turf Handicap | 1m |
It should be noted that these horses are rated very close together – this is a super competitive card. The 2.00 Qipco British Champions Sprint Stakes (Group 1) over 6f is an example where they are near impossible to split. We have only the slenderest of margins between an incredible five horses (Caravaggio, Alphabet, Harry Angel, Itelligence Cross and Tasleet) – three of which are Aiden O’Brien runners.
Expect excellent racing as a result, though as a betting medium, it has to be regarded as something of a lottery. The example above, if we ran it six times, we could feasibly see six different winners, even without any hard luck stories!
This is what makes Group 1 racing so good to watch, though. Ultra competitive.
There’s no Nap at Ascot today, though the best value is Brigliadoro in the last, for each-way backers.
