Andrew Thornton is a former British National Hunt jockey who enjoyed a successful career spanning over three decades. Born on June 11, 1972, in Yorkshire, England, Thornton made his professional debut in 1989 and went on to ride over 1,000 winners during his illustrious career. Known for his skill, determination, and sportsmanship, Thornton achieved notable victories in prestigious races such as the Hennessy Gold Cup and the Scottish Grand National. He also overcame significant injuries, showcasing his resilience and dedication to the sport. In addition to his accomplishments on the track, Thornton is highly respected for his contributions to charitable causes within the racing community. After retiring from racing in 2018, he has continued to be involved in the sport through media work and mentorship of young jockeys. Andrew Thornton’s legacy as a highly regarded and accomplished jockey remains an inspiration to many within the horse racing industry.
